motion software package provides V4L capture program supporting motion detection, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install motion
motion is installed in your system.
Make ensure the motion package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep motion *
You will get with motion package name, version, architecture and description in a table
